Demo days
These events happen quite often and offer people an opportunity to test
out new equipment that they might otherwise not be able to try. Demos
include bikes, snowboards, alpine skis, nordic skis, snowshoes, kayaks
and canoes.

Fall / Winter
Warren Miller's Children of Winter Ski Film
Friday, November 14, 8pm 2008

Mountain Film Festival

Algonquin Outfitters is once again bringing the Banff
Mountain Film Festival World Tour to the Algonquin
Theatre for two nights. Each evening will feature a different selection
of films. Get a taste of wild mountain adventures, and more, as the Banff
Mountain Film Festival World Tour once again rolls into Huntsville.
For the last ten years, Algonquin Outfitters has hosted this spectacular
showing of mountain films in Huntsville. Films in world tour bring the
spirit of adventure to life on the screen. A wide variety of stories -
from mountain sports, mountain culture and the environment - will entice
and inspire viewers.
The tour features a collection of the most inspiring and thought-provoking
action, environmental, and adventure mountain films. Traveling from remote
landscapes and cultures to up close and personal with adrenaline-packed
action sports, the World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration
of the mountain world. The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is
produced by Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre, and features award-winning
films and audience favorites from approximately 300 films entered in the
annual festival in Banff, Alberta. The world tour spans the globe, making
its way to North and South America, Europe, South Africa, India, Poland
and Iceland.

15th Annual Winter Fun Day
Saturday, February 21, 2009
Winter Fun Day is an event that will get you excited about winter! This
free, family-oriented, event takes place at the Oxtongue Lake location,
just west of Algonquin Park, on Hwy. 60, about 30 km east of Huntsville.
The Winter Assembly is designed to introduce people to self-propelled
(or at least non-motorized) winter activities like snowshoeing, cross-country
skiing, skate skiing, winter camping, ice-climbing and dog sledding, as
well as provide a host of opportunities to have fun in the snow. For more

Algonquin Outfitters hosted a Spring 2008 and Summer 2008 Photo Contest
this year. We will also be hosting a Fall / Winter Photo Contest. All

Design a Skateboard Deck
Contest and Auction
Summer / Fall 2008
This past summer we hosted a contest to get youth to design their best
Skateboard Deck with the goal to raise money to support the new Huntsville
Rotary Skate park. The Skateboards will be auctioned this fall with the
auction closing mid November. You can participate in the Auction online

Spin the Lakes Road Bike Tour
Sunday May 24 2009
This fun bike tour comes back to Huntsville for the second time. Ride
a short (55km), medium (95km) or, for those of you who want a challenge,
a long (122km) course. The first Spin the Lakes tour in 2006 drew over
200 riders - we have to say it was a success.

Kayak Wednesdays
Want to try your hand at kayaking? Wednesdays are kayaking night and for
only $15 we provide all the gear for a fun, relaxing evening outing. Meet
at the Huntsville store before 6pm for registration. We'll have you on
the water before 7 and spend the next 2 hours showing you the sights on
the Muskoka River. If the group is up for a little more challenge, we
can paddle all the way to Lake Vernon and back. Children must be accompanied
by an adult. We also do private kayaking events - call us and ask about

Tuesday Night Ride
Tuesday nights all summer long are bike nights. Bring your wheels and
meet in the parking lot behind the Huntsville store and be prepared for
a night of trail riding around Huntsville. New to the area? What better
way to find places to ride and people who enjoy riding!!
Mud Slinger Mountain Bike Race Series
2008
The Buckwallow Cycling Centre hosts the Mud Slinger Race Series on Thursday
nights. Show up and be counted... not to mention covered in mud. Algonquin
Outfitters is the official sponsor of the Mud Slinger races, starting
the first week of June and running until the first week of September.
